Hiroshima: Names Added to the Atomic Bomb Register

広島市は、原爆で亡くなった人の名前を名簿に書いています。

The city of Hiroshima records the names of people who died in the atomic bombing in a register.

この1年に新しく亡くなった人の名前を、今年も名簿に加えました。

This year, too, they added to the register the names of people who newly passed away during the past year.

名簿は平和記念公園の中の石の箱に入れてあります。

The register is kept in a stone box inside the Peace Memorial Park.

原爆で亡くなった人や、後で病気で亡くなった人の名前が書いてあります。

It contains the names of people who died in the atomic bombing, as well as those who later died of illness.

今年は新しく5000人以上の名前が加わりました。

This year, more than 5,000 new names were added.

全部で34万人以上になりました。

In total, it has now reached more than 340,000 people.

毎年8月6日に、市は名簿を点検します。

Every year on August 6, the city inspects the register.

原爆で亡くなった人を忘れないために、この名簿を大切に守っています。
