日本では、山だけでなく町にも熊が出るようになりました。

In Japan, bears have come to appear not only in the mountains but also in towns.

人が熊に襲われる事件も増えています。

しかし、熊が今どのくらいいるのか、はっきりわかっていません。

そこで、ある県は森の中に800台のカメラを置くことにしました。

カメラは動くものを見つけると、自動で写真を撮ります。

When the cameras detect something moving, they automatically take a photo.

研究者はその写真を集めて、熊の数を数えます。

Researchers gather those photos and count the number of bears.

正しい数がわかれば、対策を立てやすくなります。

If the correct number is known, it becomes easier to plan countermeasures.
