今年の夏も、高校野球の大会が甲子園で始まります。

This summer too, the high school baseball tournament will begin at Koshien.

大会の前に行う開会式で、今年は初めて手話が使われることになりました。

At the opening ceremony held before the tournament, sign language will be used for the first time this year.

手話は、耳が聞こえない人などが、手や指を動かして話すための言葉です。

Sign language is a language in which people who cannot hear and others move their hands and fingers to speak.

開会式では、選手を紹介する言葉に合わせて、手話も見せる予定です。

At the opening ceremony, they plan to also show sign language along with the words introducing the players.

これを見て、多くの人が手話に興味を持ってほしいと、大会の関係者は話しています。
